What exactly is a domain?
Your domain is your online identity, and it is one of a kind on the internet. Nobody else’s website can have the same domain name as you. Your domain is used by your visitors to access your website. When visitors enter your website’s address in the web browser’s address bar, DNS servers translate your domain into the IP address of your server, and the server then sends the website files to the visitor, who sees them in his web browser. When you type https://socialg.eu into your web browser, the DNS server converts the domain socialg.eu into the IP address of the server where this website is hosted.
An IP address is the unique address of a computer or other device connected to the Internet. It is a four-number combination ranging from 0 to 255. For example, an IP address could be 88.207.18.208. Instead of remembering that number (which, by the way, does not have to be constant; it can be dynamic), the visitor simply types its textual equivalent in the address bar, such as https://socialg.eu.
